French Pharmacy brands are France’s beauty secret. Walk into any pharmacy in France and you will be greeted by a range of fantastic, exceedingly high quality skin care offerings presided over by a well qualified French pharmacist.

Many are being bought out by the Big Eight of beauty but fortunately they know better than to tamper with the essential formula of these brands often based on the healing power of thermal waters which are every popular in France .

Avene is one of those brands and they take skincare seriously.

They have their own thermal springs and Hydrotherapy centre and medical spa where they maintain the quality of the waters  and offer 21 day treatments for dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema  in  the village of Avene .

YstheAL their ant aging line has been very successful -try it if you have early anti aging concerns.

Avene was brought into India in partnership with Dr Swati Piramal of Piramal labs.

It is available  through key chemists as they are trying to replicate the pharmacy model here . Don’t expect a French style expert but Asia chemist at Bandra ( Opp Mehboob studios) stocks many of these bands .

Go to www.aveneindia.com  to find the closest stockist.

Some other names in this space are  Bioderma, La Roche Posay ,Vichy, Biotherm and Thalgo .

I miss the pharmacy model in india. I love browsing through drug stores and here we don’t have that setup. Hope they launch such stores in India soon so we get a choice over what drug store brands we prefer. I will check out Asia chemists when I go to Mumbai. Thanks for the recommendations. Heard so much about Avene. Yet to try out their products.
